Gentechnisch veränderte Organismen (GVO)

Gentechnisch veränderte Pflanzen werden bereits auf über 10% der weltweiten landwirtschaftlichen Nutzfläche angebaut. Über hundert unterschiedliche gentechnisch veränderte Pflanzen wachsen auf über 160 Millionen Hektar in über 29 Ländern. Die wichtigsten Anbauländer sind USA, Brasilien, Argentinien, Kanada und Indien. Den größten Marktanteil hat gentechnisch verändertes Soja, gefolgt von Mais, Baumwolle und Raps. Laut EU Verordnung 1829/2003 und 1830/2003 müssen Lebensmittel und Zutaten mit einem relativen GVO-Anteil von mehr als 0,9% gekennzeichnet werden. Andere Länder und Regionen haben ähnliche Vorschriften mit vergleichbaren Grenzwerten. foodproof^® SL GMO Bt11 Maize Detection Kit

Das foodproof SL GMO Bt11 Maize Detection Kit ermöglicht den qualitativen Nachweis von gentechnisch verändertem Bt11 Mais mittels real-time PCR. Die Einfuhr von Bt11 Mais in die EU ist seit 1998 erlaubt. Seit 2004 ist Bt11 Mais als Lebens- und Futtermittel in der EU zugelassen. Der Anbau ist in der EU nicht genehmigt.
